Christmas 2012

Christmas at Salem Lake, in Salem, Utah.
Christmas in Salem, Utah. 2012
It's been too long, too long since images have been added and too long since I've been at home for Christmas.  Salem, Utah is a unique small town in the southern portion of Utah County that despite it's exponential growth in recent years has remained a tightly knit community.  That closeness allows the city to provide features like these.

Expect more images and blurbs to be posted again in the near future, more images (and less words) can be found here at my professional Facebook Page:

Photo's can be bought from me directly through this site:

That above link is a fairly large portfolio, it contains over a hundred images, mostly of Nature or Wildlife but there's a fair amount of Street Photography and City Life type images in it as well.

Enjoy!!

Cross Processing for a better world

Digital Cross Processing

Digital Cross Processing
The principle is simple, shoot a roll of slide film and develop it using the standard color film process rather than the slide film process.  The result is colors that are out of the range they would normally appear in.  The process works similiarly if you shoot normal film and have it processed as slide film, though the second option is much more involved.

So why cross processing?  Because it allows the photographer another tool to use to help push a point across to the viewer from any background and though language barriers may exist the visual arts have been breaking down the barriers between languages for far longer than photograpy has existed.  This particular grouping of images is part of a collection designed to push the extreme of what may become a reality if our waste of natural resources isn't curbed as our gluttony if not put in check may well result in our no longer having clean cities, clean air or clean water.  I hope you chuckled just barely.  All of those issues are a reality, but to what end will you let it continue to slide?

Yes I just picked on you.  And you, and you and you.  Why?  Because if it's not driven home to each one of us how we can all play part to making the world a cleaner and more beautiful home then we might end up with no home to live in.

Stone Family Portraits

With the Coronado Bridge in the distant background

Here are some images from a recent shoot with the Stone Family. We met over at a park on Coronado and meandered through a few locations there changing our backgrounds as we went. All in all we took just over an hour and the post-production work was extremely minimal. In fact the most that was done aside from correcting a few shadows. Enjoy.
Boys will be boys!

Ooooh, I want that!

By the by.  If you're "googling" PC Photo and finding a load of information on Peter Crichton Photo or the magazine PC-Photo, that's not me.  "fotoneurotic" is me, it's been my tag for at least a decade now, you'll find pages relating to fotoneurotic, from evaluations of graphics cards to gamer ranks in Halo, it will also link you to my facebook and my other Blogspot account, which is also fotoneurotic.  As such fotoneurotic.blogspot.com has been up for some time and has more images on it at the moment though they are quite dated.  Also searching "Paul Crown" will bring up one hit for me, which is also my facebook as you would find listed under "fotoneurotic".
Here is a series of photos that I took for a family in the San Diego area at a location of their choice.  None of the images have been altered in Photoshop, Bridge or Camera Raw aside from making them in to JPG files.

What that means to you, I shoot in a raw digital format, allowing me the ability to adjust and correct a variety of levels without damaging the photo, but shoot with the intention of not needing to.  I try my best to practice that if you shoot it right the first time you'll never have to spend hours working on it later on.

Are there adjustments that could be made?  Of course, depending on what you the customer want perhaps there's a certain image you want something blurred out of, higher contrast, cropped closer, brighter, darker, or perhaps you'd like a vignette around the border of the image.  The capability is there without restricting you to me required to have it.
I love capturing people in an environment where they feel comfortable.  Yes some people feel very awkward in front of a camera.  I promise I will do my best to make you feel comfortable and at ease with the camera.  The interaction between a couple, a family, a child with a pet, or an individual interacting with the camera, they can all deliver very powerful and emotional connections that are understood by all people regardless of language barriers.  Such is the beauty of photography.

What is it that you have in mind?  Are you wanting a photographer to record a special event, portraits for your resume, business card or website?  Are you looking to photograph a project that's being done for the city?  Do you just want to finally have a photograph of yourself that you actually like?
Every person deserves to feel they look amazing in a photo.  Everyone deserves to have photographs of their special occasion whether it's a wedding, anniversary, birthday party, dance recital or any other event that is really a defining moment in a persons life.

  What have I personally photographed?

Weddings, anniversaries, bridals, engagements, family portraits, personal portraits, regional dance competitions, national dance competitions, fine art, construction projects, architecture, business card, and the list goes on.

 Why PC Photo?

I'm not happy unless you're happy.  I won't be satisfied with the photographs until we've found exactly what you're looking for.  With that in mind I'll ask you a series of questions so I know what you're expecting, and so you fully understand what you're capable of receiving as an end product..

What questions might I ask, well, I'm glad you asked:

How many people are going to be involved?

What's the event?

What are you looking for?

Do you have any visualizations of what you want the end product to look like?

Where would you like to take the photos?

Would you like certain props to be accesible?

Are you interested in taking photos in several outfits? (note this will limit locations or extend the time it will take to get all the photos you're looking for)

Do you want a photographer in a set place or roaming around your event photographing everything?

As you can probably tell I'm focused on getting You, the Customer, the end product that you want.  I feel if we communicate clearly we can know exactly what you're looking for the end result to be before the shutter releases for the first time.  What this means for you is getting what you want sooner, and with less wasted time.

If you're curious what I shoot on I'm a Canon guy.  I live and die by Canon, I've owned a Canon and shot on them for over 10 years now and in that time frame I've shot both film and digital.  I have worked with Nikon extensively, and used Nikon predominantly with a company I worked for in the past.  The bottom line is the quality is nothing less than professional grade on their top end cameras for both companies.  I use Adobe software products to edit your images until they're perfectly how you want them for those special images that you want that extra "touch" added to.

My preference for how I deliver the product to you the consumer is to sell you your end product on a DVD, giving you shared printing rights.  All I ask of you is that you don't sell the images for profit, as they are shared rights for printing only.  You can upload them online, print them, share them with your friends, family, use them for your business or resume and a myriad of other things.

If you would prefer prints only, or a combination we can coordinate to ensure you get the size of print that you want, cropped how you want with the perfect final touches.  Printing does increase my end cost and I have to adjust to not lose profit, as I charge a very fair price I'm sure you'll agree that I'm cutting your cost by giving you printing rights as it's almost always cheaper for the consumer to make their own prints rather than paying for prints as well.

So, what now?  Contact me!  Let's coordinate what you're looking for the end result and that will allow me to give you an accurate price to what you're looking for.  I promise to not hide anything from you and suprise you with hidden charges when all is said and done, I feel it foolish to try to sneak in a higher price at the shoot or upon delivery of the images to the customer.  It's morally wrong and it's bad for business, as the best advertisement that I could ask for is for you to personally be so elated with the images we produced for you that you sell me to your friends, family and businesses.  I promise to treat them just as you expect me to treat you, that's the kind of business ethos you can expect from PC Photo.

What's coming next?  More photographs and examples of what PC Photo is and what's shaped the photographer over the course of his lovpassion for photography.
